You may not be aware of it, but October 23 - 30 is Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the United States, reaching milliions of young people. In Lycoming County, hundreds of kids are being proactive..when you see a student wearing a "find your anti-drug" t-shirt, you have found a member of the Youth Development Task Force (YDTF), encompassing every high school in Lycoming County.
Why do these kids stand against the rising tide of illegal drug and prescription opiates that we have heard is taking over? - because they have found a way to rise above the natural tendency for teens to feel left out and not a part of things, falling prey to depression or isolation that often leads to addiction.
What do they do? - talk to their peers, make audio and video pleas for understanding, and get very involved with social media - facebook: lycoming youth development task force, and on twitter: lycoming_ydtf.
